Keep your files current.
Both buttons are in Ordimus tab > Helpers. Both run only when you press them. Nothing in the add-on scans your scene in the background.
Update Toolkit Groups #
Use it after you install a newer version, to bring the node groups in your existing files up to date.
- Install the new zip, restart Blender, open your file.
- Press Update Toolkit Groups.
- Read the list. Press OK.
- Press it again. It should say the groups are up to date.
What the list shows #
| Row | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Out of date | The bundled version is newer. These get updated |
| Edited by you | You changed the group by hand. Left alone unless you tick Also Replace Edited Groups |
| Changed, origin unknown | The group differs and has no version stamp. Handled like Edited |
What is kept #
- All input values, keyframes and drivers.
- The Falloff picker settings.
- The geometry. Updated files evaluate the same as before.
- Your own edits: replaced groups are saved as
<name> (before update)with a fake user. - If an input was removed or changed in the new version, you get a warning that names it.
- Undo restores the old version.
Good to know #
- When a release changes a group, every file shows it as out of date once. One press fixes it.
- The version check covers sockets, defaults, tooltips, nodes and links, so a tooltip fix also shows up as an update.
- Helper groups come along with their parents.
Repair Components #
Use it when a constructor does nothing or makes the geometry disappear.
- A constructor depends on small helper groups. If those are purged or lost, a drop-down goes blank and the constructor outputs nothing, with no error.
- Repair Components checks every toolkit modifier in the scene. It says “Rigs OK” when nothing is broken. Otherwise it replaces each broken group with a fresh copy from the bundled library and reports what it fixed.
- Your values and other modifiers are left as they are.
If you see X, do Y
Repair says a group is linked from another file and cannot be edited? Make it local (Outliner > right-click > ID Data > Make Local), or delete the constructor and add it again from Add Component.
Which one do I need? #
| Situation | Press |
|---|---|
| Just installed a new version | Update Toolkit Groups |
| Constructor does nothing, or geometry vanished | Repair Components |
| Not sure | Repair Components first, then Update |
Older files and the library #
Files made before an update #
- Files made before an update keep their old group copies. Run Update Toolkit Groups (tick Also Replace Edited Groups if offered) to bring them forward.
- Updating switches Falloffs to the new Falloff Axes default for Position Space, so a rotated Falloff may move. Set Position Space to Object Axes for the old behavior.
- Groups linked from the library (asset browser Link) update automatically, but they break if the library path moves. Keep linked files away from other people.
Ordimus Library mode #
Components from the add-on arrive as local copies, because the add-on sets the Ordimus Library to Append when it creates the entry.
If you see X, do Y
The Ordimus Library entry shows Pack or Link? Set it to Append in Preferences > File Paths > Asset Libraries. Blender’s own default for a new library is Pack.
Why: Append puts a normal, editable copy of each group inside your file. Pack and Link keep it read-only, so Update Toolkit Groups and Repair Components cannot replace it. Link also ties the file to the library path, so moving or sharing the file breaks it.
