Turn curves into 3D rigs.

Import #

File > Import > SVG as Structured Curves (.svg), or Ordimus tab > SVG Rigs > Import SVG (Structured). The options are in the file browser’s right-hand panel.

Option What it does
Scale Fit To Size (default, longest side 2 m), Multiply, or As Imported
Center At World Origin Centers the artwork. On by default
Curve Data Clean Curves (default) fixes how filled curves are drawn
Rebuild Group Hierarchy Recreates your SVG groups as nested collections
Show As Wireframe (default), Solid, or Extrude Now

Show As: Wireframe keeps overlapping shapes from flickering until you extrude. Extrude Now opens the Extrude dialog right after the import. You can switch back any time with Source Curve Display.

Extrude Curves #

Ordimus tab > SVG Rigs > Extrude Curves.

Setting Value
Collection The import root (the top collection of your artwork)
Ingest Per Group
Group Level 0
Depth 0.012
Direction Back
Stack In Z On (Layer Gap 1.0)
Collect Rigs On
Source Curves Hide

The status bar reports Ingested N rig(s) from '...' - X group(s), Y loose curve(s) - over Z Z level(s).

What you get #

  • One rig per shape, in a collection named <prefix> Rigs.
  • The source curves stay safe: hidden, not deleted.
  • Depth, Layer Gap and Clearance lay overlapping shapes out in Z so nothing is buried.

The Ingest options #

Option Use it for
Per Group The normal choice. One rig per shape, grouped later with Group Rigs
Whole Chunk Single-layer art: one logo, one flat icon set
Per Piece A modifier on every curve, when you want object-level control

Extra tools #

  • Restack Rigs re-lays the Z layout from each rig’s current Depth. Run it after any depth change.
  • Flatten Curves To Plane repairs art imported with an old height offset.
  • Bake / Unbake Rigs freezes the extrusion for speed. See Bake and Performance.

If you see X, do Y

Letter holes filled in, or text sunk in its plate? Extrude Group Level must be 0.
