Common issues and how to fix them.
Most problems here are silent: nothing errors, the result just looks wrong. Find your symptom below.
Nothing moves when I add a constructor. #
The constructor has no pieces. Every constructor needs a Cloner, Text Generator or Ingestor above it. Add Component adds an Ingestor for you when none is there. With Group Rigs, keep Add Ingestor on.
My Falloff does nothing. #
Check three things:
- The Falloff sits above the constructor.
- The constructor’s Falloff Mode is Falloff or Both. The default, None, ignores all Falloffs.
- The Falloff picker shows the Falloff’s name and is still in attribute mode (not Single Value).
The geometry vanished after I added a constructor. #
A helper node group is missing and a drop-down is blank. Press Repair Components in the Helpers panel. Do not purge orphan data while a constructor is unassigned.
After Realize, constructors stopped working. #
Realize turns instances into real geometry, so the pieces are gone. Add an Ingestor after the Realize, before any constructor.
Holes in my letters are filled in. #
Extrude Curves Group Level must be 0. Raise the Group Rigs level instead if you need bigger animation groups.
My text is sunk inside its own background plate. #
Extrude Group Level above 0, or Stack In Z off. Set Group Level to 0 and turn Stack In Z on, then extrude again.
Long diagonals run across a plate. #
The plate was triangulated together with other shapes. Extrude at Group Level 0.
The whole list moves as one piece. Or: every row splits into tiny groups. #
That is the Group Rigs level. Lower it by one if the whole list is one set. Raise it by one if rows split into pieces. Run it again. It is cheap and destroys nothing. See Group Rigs and Group Levels.
Overlapping shapes flicker. #
Source curves drawn solid, or planes that touch. Set Source Curve Display to Wireframe, and keep Clearance at its default when you extrude. This is display only.
Depth changed and my rigs float or overlap. #
Run Restack Rigs. It re-lays the Z layout from each rig’s current Depth.
The viewport is slow. #
In this order: Cloner Voxel Amount (cost is cubic; 32-64 is plenty), Shader Flow, Shader Preview Resolution, Push Apart Iterations. Turn off preview helpers (Show Falloff, Show Radius, Show Target, Show Volume, Show Noise) when you are done. Bake the extruded rigs. See Bake and Performance.
Color shows black, or only the Fallback. #
The Color node only shows colors the pieces carry. The object needs pieces, a constructor’s Color Mode must be Custom or Falloff Color, and the viewport must be Material Preview or Rendered (Solid does not show material colors). See Color and Materials.
Delay looks wrong when I scrub. #
Delay is a simulation. Play from the start frame, or bake. Toggle Delays turns it off while you work.
A Falloff with Target: Mesh Points writes nothing. #
Either the vertex group does not exist (use Create Falloff Vertex Groups), or an Ingestor sits above the Falloff. Mesh Points Falloffs go above the Ingestor.
A copied row ignores its Falloff, or every row moves together. #
If every row moves together, Falloff Naming was Verbatim, so they share one Falloff. Undo, pick From Target Name, New Base Name or Enumerate, and copy again. If one row ignores its Falloff, check its Falloff Mode and that its picker shows the row’s own name.
An object, curve or surface input seems ignored. #
A viewport-hidden object counts as empty, with no warning. Unhide it.
Hidden objects in a Cloner collection still clone. #
A hidden object in the source collection still takes its turn. Check the collection’s members.
“I set the count to 26 and only nine appear.” #
The spacing is smaller than the clone, so identical shapes overlap. The count is real. Check Spacing or Cell Size against the clone’s size.
Hexagons will not tile. #
Leave Fit to Clone on in Honeycomb mode.
A helper object moved and everything shifted. #
A Spline’s curve, a Falloff’s empty, a Target’s empty and a Surface Object are read relative to the object they drive. Move the pair together.
I installed a new version. #
Restart Blender, open your file and press Update Toolkit Groups. See Update and Repair.
Edit Mode shows only a plain mesh. #
The pieces are instances, not mesh. Use the Spreadsheet or the Statistics overlay to see what the stack produces.
I only see the last warning. #
The status bar shows only the last message. Open an Info editor to read them all.
I changed a setting and nothing happened. #
Blender remembers a dialog’s last-used values. Reopen the dialog and check every value.
The Ordimus tab is missing. #
Check that the add-on is enabled in Preferences > Get Extensions, then press N in the 3D Viewport.
